George Orr born and brought up in Scotland had never heard of Rod Stewart when he was young. George grew up in bands that played Led Zeppelin and Motown. All that changed when he became a local star in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Then London called and offered stardom. Recording companies had heard of George but had never seen him. He entered their studios and they took one look and said “No! It was hard enough for Rod Stewart to get a contract because of his looks and you look and sound just like him”. George took a back seat in the music industry, working as a backing musician and as a roadie for many famous names.

While working as a roadie George took pictures behind the scenes. He ended up as one of Britain’s most wanted newspaper photographers . He came to America to join the National Enquirer as a photographic reporter. By 1995 photography as evidence was dead. People took pictures with their phones and “photoshop” did the rest. George took jobs as a manual laborer. One day, while waiting for a job behind Home Depot, a car pulled up and the driver said, “You look like Rod Stewart. Do you sound like him?” The gentleman was in the music business and got George a band and a new career.

Since that day George has not only performed songs by Rod Stewart but also amuses the audience with stories about Rod and other stars he has worked with. He explained in one radio interview, “If you just want to hear Rod Steward songs, stay home and listen to a CD. If you want to have fun and entertainment, come and see me. If I played this part in a movie, I’d be up for an Oscar.
